Downtown Bend
1. Riverbend Dog Park
799 SW Columbia St, Bend, OR 97702
A 1.1 acre fully-fenced gravel area right next to the river and adjacent to river Bend Park. This dog park also boasts a small fenced area that slopes into the river, so you can safely allow your dog to play in the water. Although this is a nice place to take an of leash break with your pup while walking near the Old Mill District, it is not recommended as a place to throw the ball, as the gravel can be harsh on pup’s paws. This park also includes a small dog area.
West Side Bend
2. Overturf Butte Park
475 NW 17th St, Bend, OR 97701
Overturf is a beautiful 4.6 acre fully-fenced area on the westside in the River West Neighborhood. This forested area is perfect for pup and owner alike to have a pleasant off-leash walk. You can access this park by starting at Overturf Park, or while walking the Skyliners trail. It is a steeply hilled area, with no grass, and natural foliage, so playing ball can be difficult in this area.
3. Discovery Park
1315 NW Discovery Drive, Bend, OR 97701
Located in Northwest Crossing, this fully-fenced 1.6 acre grassy area is a lovely neighborhood dog park. It has enough room to play ball, run around, and let your pup play with all the other happy dogs! Right next to the main park, the Discovery Park dog area could be a perfect stop while walking your pup around the pond, or up on the trails surrounding the park.
4. Awbrey Reservoir Park
NW 10th and Trenton, Bend, OR, 97701
This 5 acre fully-fenced area is just down the hill from Awbrey Butte, and boasts beautiful natural trails that wind through the juniper and ponderosas. There is no grassy area here, so it’s probably best to keep activities to walking rather than fetch or frisbee.
Midtown/Eastside Bend
5. Hollinshead Park
1235 NE Jones Rd, Bend, OR 97701
A beautiful 3.7 acre grassy area, adjacent to a historic barn, Hollinshead is a picturesque place to play with your pup. The park has picnic tables, benches, and plenty of shade due to the numerous trees that dot the park. This area is not fenced, so make sure you are confident that your dog will stay in the area.
6. Pine Nursery Park
3750 NE Purcell Blvd, Bend, OR 97701
By far the largest fully fenced dog parks in the area, at 18.8 acres Pine Nursery is a wonderful place to take your pup for a walk off leash. At the end of the walk from the main parking lot through juniper lined trails, you’ll find a large grassy area, perfect for playing ball, or just letting your dog run around with friends. This park also includes a small dog area.
7. Ponderosa Park
225 SE 15th St, Bend, OR 97702
This is a 2.9 acre fully- fenced, lightly wooded area within the greater Ponderosa Park area. There are small grassed portions of the park, but most is natural path, and could be conducive to light ball or frisbee throwing. This would be a lovely place to come while walking through the larger park or playing with your children at the adjacent playground. This park also includes a small dog area.
8. Big Sky Dog Park
21690 Neff Rd, Bend, OR 97701
This park has both fenced and unfenced areas on it’s 5 acre off leash area. One large grassy area is fully-fenced and perfect for playing ball, but there is also an unfenced, natural terrain area for you pup to explore off leash (just be confident that your dog will stay with you). The best part of this park is a small swimming pond that allows your dog respite from heat in the hotter months.

Alpenglow Dog Park is a wonderful new addition and should join the list of best dog parks. It has both large and small dog fenced areas. It is on your map.
I am very disappointed, however, that there are not more designated small dog fenced in areas in our dog parks! .
We will have to add this to the list! Thank you so much for your input Fran! When I wrote this post, Alpenglow wasn’t open yet. Will update the article!
