If you’re from out of town or are craving a staycation, stay at My Place in downtown Bend, a dog friendly hotel in a great location for a good dog walk – The Old Mill District.
Check out the Bend dog mural
Walk from your hotel at My Place to Strictly Organic to grab a coffee and pastry. Sit next to the dog wall mural and snap a picture of your beautiful Bend dog.
Play at Riverbend Dog Park
Take a walk over to the dog park beach at Riverbend Dog Park.
A short walk from Strictly Organic, head to the iconic dog park that has instant river access. Here, your dog can swim and meet some friends.
Riverbend Park is at the Old Mill District. The dog park is on the left side when headed down river.
There is also a separate dog park for large or small dogs located next to the river access area. If you’re interested in a long walk, keep walking past the dog park and walk the River Trail Loop.
Grab a treat, then a beer
Walk over to Mud Bay to grab your dog a bag of treats and let them grab a sample or two.
Walk from Mud Bay to Bend Brewing Company located in downtown Bend. Sit on the dog-friendly patio next to the river.
Roam Drake Park
Walk through the iconic and scenic Drake Park.
Drake Park is one of the loveliest places to walk in Downtown Bend. Drake Park features river views, pine trees, and views of a historic neighborhood.
Walk on the neighborhood side of the road to see the plaques on historic houses. They give information on the history of the house and the Drake Park neighborhood. The best time to walk through Drake Park is during the Fall.
Order the dog patty
Stop by the 10 Barrel Westside Pub.
10 Barrel is a popular brewery that was founded in Bend. They have a large dog-friendly patio with a fireplace and plenty of places to sit or stand. This is a nice place to be social with your dog. 10 Barrel has a dog beer, Good Sit, and a large dog burger patty on their menu. The dog patty is the same patty they use for the regular burger, so it’s huge and grass-fed.
Time for dessert
Stop by Ida’s Cupcakes across the street from 10 Barrel to grab your dog a pup cake. Ida’s also has excellent cupcakes for humans featuring gluten free, dairy free, and vegan options.
Chill at McMenamins outdoor fire pits
Stop by McMenamins on the way back to your dog-friendly hotel.
They have many outdoor fire pits on their multiple dog-friendly patios. There are three outdoor areas including the Fireside bar, the main pub, and O’Kanes in the back of the hotel. This is a nice place to sip on a warm drink by the fire with your dog.
We know it’s cold out, but we hope you celebrate National Walk Your Dog Month by walking somewhere with your dog in Bend. If you happen to choose Downtown Bend, use our guide!
